Are you affected by injury, disability, or illness? Physiotherapists can help patients manage pain and prevent disease through the use of manual therapies, movement and exercise, and patient education. Physiotherapists take a patient’s lifestyle and activities into account when planning treatment and care. Physiotherapists can help with a wide range of conditions including, but not limited to:
Neurological: stroke, MS, Parkinson’s
Musculoskeletal: back pain, whiplash, sports injuries, arthritis, TMJ
Cardiovascular: rehabilitation after heart attack, chronic heart disease
Respiratory: asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis
During your first visit, your physiotherapist will assess you by taking a full history and will use specific tests and measurements to help determine your diagnosis. Once a diagnosis has been made, they will assess your current abilities and functional needs in order to come up with a treatment plan that addresses your health goals while maintaining your health status. Treatments going forward can include the following: massage, exercise programs, joint mobilization/manipulation, heat/ice/modalities to reduce pain, reduce swelling and speed up healing, and prescription and application of supportive and protective devices. Physiotherapy can make a huge impact on your quality of life and overall health and well being.
